I am walking with a very dear friend thru a very difficult moment! Well … it’s more that a ‘moment’! It’s an intense physical battle!
So What Do You Call It Anyway!
Being close to someone who is going thru what my friend is experiencing is a challenge for all of us!
A big problem is trying to understand what exactly is going on. We know that God is in charge, we know that He can do anything, we know that He honors our faith/obedience & we know that He responds to our prayers, but we do not know what to call these kinds of experiences!
So What Do You Call It Anyway!
Often we refer to these moments as ‘times of testing, a journey or a process’!
All are accurate but they can cast an inappropriate shadow!
- Times of testing makes it sound like it is all about performance – pass or fail!
- A journey makes it sound like it’s a random path & we are – uninformed travelers!
- A process makes it sound like a very impersonal, rigorous cycle & we are – helpless victims!
So What Do You Call It Anyway!
With my friend we have made an important discovery!
These difficult moments in our lives can often best described as being in the ‘School Of Christ’! God Himself is at work fulfilling His plan in our lives, so that He can fulfill His purposes thru our lives!
From His perspective this is an ultimately positive experience, in which He is proactively at work & personally engaged in our circumstances!
We can call it God, we can call it good & we can call it gain!!
