Fosters Fight Human Trafficking

Jerry and April Foster are fighting human trafficking by going directly into the red light districts in cities in Belgium, talking with the girls and offering them hope for their future.

“We offer training to girls in several income-earning skills including jewelry making and sewing,” said Jerry. “We also offer English classes and are planning to expand into computer skills, candle making, cake decorating and pastry baking.”

The Fosters shared their ministry vision at the FEIC 2008 Summit and are available to help other FEIC network churches begin a similar ministry.

“We will come and speak, teach, and train anyone, with presentations appropriate for any age and setting, who is interested in learning more about human trafficking. We want to help you make an impact in the area you live in and around the world.”

CURRENT TRENDS & CHALLENGES
Keeping Our Relational Network Seriously Relational
By: Terry Hoggard, FEIC Coordinator

One of the key purposes of our annual FEIC Summit is to build relationships.

This year our FEIC network enters into it’s 6th year.

In January, 2004 we had a directive to fulfill and a dream that we desperately wanted to achieve, but not much else in between!

It has been such a joy to see the development unfold!

Our journey has been marked with both strategic steps and significant surprises!

Along the way we have answered the important questions:

  • What we want to do – we know our deepest passion
  • Why we want to do it – we know our determined purpose
  • How we will get it done – we know our defined plan of action

The Fellowship Of International Churches (FEIC) is fundamentally a relational network, which means that all of our churches have an organizational network that they are accountable to and a national church organization that they identify with … we are simply the relational connection.

We do define our churches as being, ‘ a tapestry of cultures & traditions, races & people groups, languages & nationalities united under the Lordship of Jesus Christ’.

We also ask our churches to support our values which are to establish supportive relationships, encourage shared resources & empower strategic renewal & development. Our desire is to provide clarity for the network & commitment to the network!

But in the end, we are … a relational network!

Keeping Our Relational Network
Seriously Relational: Our Ongoing Task

  • In 2006 we had our first FEIC Leadership Summit … and we loved being together!
  • In 2007 we realized that we needed to do more to strengthen our relational connections so we introduced what we called, ‘Strategic Mentoring Connections’. By openly creating connection opportunities we discovered a whole new level of relational value!
  • In 2008 we came together knowing that as much as we loved being together during week 42, we desperately needed to discover ways in which we could connect in meaningfully the other 51 weeks of the year, so we introduced what we called, ‘Streams Of Ministry Connections’.

Streams are an appropriate metaphor for us

Streams connect all the lands they flow through, make a life-giving contribution & continue to flow on and on.

This is our desire really: to provide ’streams of ministry connections’ that create a way for us to share common opportunities that can bring life & continual spiritual refreshing to all of our network churches.

It is our hope that you will benefit in every way by the ministries that we recommend to you and that you will joyfully share your ministry connections with us.

Keeping Our Relational Network Seriously Relational – if we are all in on the effort, this joy will continue to be ours!

RESOURCE IN FOCUS

Get In The Flow of These Three FEIC-Related Streams

Three of our FEIC-related streams are offering events that you can be a part of. Below, find information about these FEIC streams and their events.

Europe Advance Hosts Church Planting Conference February 6-7 in Hilversum

On February 6 and 7 Hilversum International Christian Center and the brand new church planting network “Europe Advance” will hold a conference called “Innovate 2009″.

This conference will address the question of how a church can be missional in the 21st Century and reach post-Christian Europe. There will also be a number of seminars that deal with church planting.

The following speakers are invited: Kent Redfearn from Muldoon Community Assembly (Anchorage, Alaska), Bill Berger from All Saints (Seattle), Craig Mathison (Seattle) and Sebastiaan van Wessem from Hilversum International Christian Center.

On February 5 there will be a special dinner for pastors and other church leaders. More information can be obtained through http://innovate.europeadvance.org.

Brussels-European Worship Institute Organizes Worship Seminar March 14

The Brussels-European Worship Institute, organized by Jeff Slaughter, is hosting a worship seminar in Brussels on Saturday, March 14.
Karry Godwin, a worship teacher and professional guitarist, will serve as the keynote speaker of the conference, themed: “Join The Worship Journey: From the Secret Place to the Corporate Gathering.” Godwin will teach general sessions in the morning while workshops will be offered in the afternoon for piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals.

“While the majority of participants for this seminar will come from Belgium and Holland, we would love to host FEIC network member worship leaders and their teams,” said Jeff. “If you would like to send members of your team, please e-mail me and we’ll do our best to house them with church members to reduce costs.”

For more information about the conference, e-mail Jeff at: bewi2009@hotmail.com.

Announcing The 2009 European International Church Youth Camp

Donnelle Johnson from Parker, Colorado is organizing the 2009 European International Church Youth Camp in Gutenstein, Austria (photo, left) July 6-10. The five-day camp is open to international youth (ages 12-18) across Europe.
This camp was founded by Chad Phillips (with the Assemblies of God World Missions) in the year 2000. Donnelle and a team from Parker Christian Center in Colorado, has served at these camps, ministering through recreation, drama, worship and teaching.

Donelle has a vision to see this camp continue and would love to hear from our FEIC pastors and/or those responsible for youth programs.

“Our mission statement is our commitment,” said Donelle. “We exist to provide a Godly environment with sound Biblical teaching for the European youth and to confront strongholds and help launch and/or further encourage them into the fullness of their calling.”

Donelle and her sister attended the 2008 FEIC Summit to meet network members and promote the camp. In fact, the two sisters offered one scholarship per church at the conference for the first five churches who committed to come.

“When we invest in our youth before they reach the age of 18, we have a much stronger chance of reaching and keeping them in the faith,” said Donnelle. “Our vision is: to see the spiritual awakening of European youth; to shed light in dark places; to deepen their walk with Christ; to see spiritual, physical & emotional healing.”

News & Network Development
FEIC Church News from Vienna, Finland & Paris

Vienna Christian Center
Holds 20th Anniversary In New Building

Vienna Christian Center held their 20th Anniversary just prior to our FEIC Summit. It’s a time when all 7 fellowships of VCC come together

in one service. The highlight for VCC was that they held the service in their new building which is still being constructed. It was an exciting time, as nearly 1200 people gathered together in VCC’s future facility to worship, pray, and enjoy being united as a whole church.

The 7 different fellowships of VCC only come together at celebration services 3-4 times a year, and as always it proved to be a historic
occasion. The church hopes to be in their new facility by the end of 2009.

Vantaa International Christian Fellowship
Launches with Christmas Celebration

Vantaa International Christian Fellowship held a Christmas Celebration to

promote their church plant just north of the Helsinki Airport. Some 43 people attended the event, with about half internationals and have immigants.

Arto Sädeaho, pastor and church planter, said that the church would begin regular meetings in January, 2009.

“After my speech,” said Arto, “we showed the 2007 FEIC video (by Jeff) that has flags coming and going. Somehow the best choice to the situation (song especially). Before showing it I told the audience that we’re relationally networked European-wide. That was impressive!
Needless to say I’m a bit thrilled and SO thankful to the Lord.”

The Paris Bridge Project Gains Momentum

The Bridge Project for Paris, France, an international church and ministry center, continues to gather steam and an international team for its April 2010 launch.
According to Lead Pastor and team leader, Robby Bradford, more than 20 individuals from America and Europe are preparing to come to the western suburbs of Paris for the launch of the first Pentecostal/charismatic church in English for the Paris region.

“We sense an extraordinary momentum behind this initiative and anticipate a remarkable start,” reports Bradford who will move back to Europe in June 2009.

Fellow Dutch team members, Jeroen and Maaike Kemperman, come from Hilversum International Christian Center where they first met Bradford and others who are part of the Bridge team. The Kempermans are the first team members on the ground, having moved to Paris last summer.
