BECAUSE RELATIONSHIPS MATTER

FEIC Welcomes Riverside Church Budapest

Budapest.5Riverside Church Budapest is new to the city of Budapest and new to FEIC.

Launched in September of 2014, Riverside is one of only four international churches in this central European city and the first Pentecostal international church in the city.

“We have a great relationship with the Hungarian Pentecostal Church, are under their care and counted as a member church,” says lead pastor David Buckley, who with his wife Karmi, are AGWM missionaries.

The church meets weekly in the 12th district of Budapest meeting in a local community center (MOM Kulturális Központ in Budapest 1124-Csörsz utca 18-Upper floor) near a major shopping mall and hosts an average of 30 people per week. They promote their services using Facebook ads, posters and flyers.

“Budapest has a large international business community and missionary community,” says David. “Right now, our church is made up with 50% expats and 50% Hungarian.”

Budapest.3In addition to David serving as lead pastor, current staff includes: Chris & Lenee’ Oakley (AGWM missionaries to Central Europe), who are co-preaching and directing youth ministries; Karmi Buckley, who is directing children’s ministries; and Bence and Viktoria Ovari, who are leading the worship team.

Riverside Church Budapest is focusing on youth ministry, having launched ‘H2O Youth Group Budapest’ as well as a youth group for Middle & High School students that meets the first and third weekends of the month. “This group is quickly growing with an average of 20 students per meeting,” said David.
