2012 Summit Update: Monday

thanks to Jason Brown for this amazing photo of ‘the mountain’ at Gutenstein, Austria
Some 60 pastors, missionaries and ministry leaders are ‘on the mountain’ in Gutenstein, Austria for the 2012 FEIC Summit. It’s a bit cold and rainy outside but the Son is shining bright on the inside during our sessions and fellowship times!

We’re so thankful to Vienna Christian Center, led by senior pastors Larry and Melinda Henderson, who along with their team are doing a fantastic job of hosting us. Great meals, non-stop coffee and service with a smile help make our Summit a memorable and refreshing time for all.

As always, our opening session featured introductions of special guests as well as FEIC members. This year, we’re welcoming a number of new members and churches including those from Turkey and Spain.

After a traditional ‘Summit’ dinner of schnitzel and potato salad, topped off with coffee and dessert we enjoyed a corporate time of worship and an introduction of our theme ‘Intentionally Pervasive’. See Terry Hoggard’s powerpoint on the theme here.

This was followed by more worship and a powerful testimony by evangelists Darrell and Sherri Beebe, who shared their story of hope, healing, forgiveness and the faithfulness of God after suffering a violent attack in 1986 as they were serving as missionaries on the island nation of Palau. To read about their story see their website: www.2b4giving.com

After a time of prayer, we viewed the annual ‘theme’ video prepared by our media tech Nolan Tarantino.

We capped off our opening day by enjoying our annual ‘International Smorgasbord’ featuring treats and snacks from the many nations represented. Everyone enjoyed special cookies, chocolates, pastries and salty snacks – and will continue to enjoy the leftovers through the remainder of the Summit.

If you were unable to join us this year, we’ll be post daily updates here on the FEIC site. And mark your calendars for Week #42 in 2013. You don’t want to miss next year on the mountain!.
